Kristen + Drew | Summerour Studio

Kristen + Drew’s November wedding at Summerour Studio was magical. Kristen was a referral (well, sort of) from a past bride. She reached out to us over a year out from her wedding, and we hit it off pretty quickly. With a heart like Kristen’s, I am pretty confident she has never met a stranger. She was so kind and gracious throughout the planning process. She hired Organized Occasions for design, and I was right in the middle of my pregnancy with our sweet baby, Charley. As we would email over wedding details, she was also quick to ask how my pregnancy was going, and even after Charley arrived she always asked about me/us/Charley. It was so kind of her to be thinking of me, her lil ole’ wedding planner, during one of the most special seasons of her own life—- I was humbled to be by her side throughout the process!

During our first meeting, I met Kristen and her mom for coffee and to talk about all the pretty things. As the months progressed, her vision also evolved and changed a bit—- and I want all brides to know, THAT IS TOTALLY OKAY! Your ideas may change as the wedding date gets closer, and that’s normal. It’s okay to maintain some flexibility and to have fun with the creative process. Kristen added the deeper mauve color as the date drew near, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. It was the perfect touch of “fall” but it also preserved the romance of the day.

We had a blast getting to know Kathy, the MoB (that’s code for “Mother of the Bride” to all you wedding virgins out there!), throughout the planning months, as well. Kathy’s biggest concern for wedding day was rain. And unfortunately, as the day approached, it seemed as though rain was definitely in our forecast. When the vendors were arriving to the venue, it was POURING. I mean, dumping. Cats and dogs style. We were all soaked. By the time the bridal party arrived to the venue, however, the rain had lightened up a bit. And by the time their first look rolled around….guess what? The clouds parted and the sun peaked through! I think that moment is why I choose to describe the whole day as “magical”. It was perfect timing and the rest of the day followed suit in perfection.

We had fun with all of Kristen’s details. From her custom acrylic signage (thanks, Peach & Valley!) to the hexagon place cards at the estate table to the UGA themed cookies, each item was hand selected by Kristen. Stylish Stems knocked it out of the park with the florals (I mean…they created a 24ft hanging floral installation over the estate table. like whaaaat!) and The Moxy Band kept the dance floor packed all night. These photos below from Justen Clay Photography sure do capture all the details and moments so perfectly. If you are still searching for a photographer, we never hesitate to recommend him! We hope you enjoy the shots below and we hope they give you some inspiration for your own special day. xx!
